Foot massage is the best way to take care of your sore feet. Legs and feet are the most neglected body parts when it comes to skincare. Hence you can just relax and get a foot massage done on you. You can learn the basic steps that are involved in foot massage and try it on your friend or partner. There will be nothing more pleasurable for them. But before learning the process it is important to know why one should do foot massage.
We do so many activities like walking, running, standing and lifting in which our feet support our body's entire weight. The feet are always locked inside the footwear and that reduces the blood circulation in feet. Hence foot rubs are a good way to ensure that there is roper blood circulation in your feet. Although there are various foot massagers available in the market the foot massage in which a human touch is involved is the best one. You can either massage your own feet or give this pleasure of relaxing to your loved one's by doing their foot massage.
How to give foot massage?
- Take warm water in a bucket and soak your feet in this water for about 10 minutes. You can also add few drops of essential oils or bath salts in the water. For foot massages, therapists use lavender oil or peppermint oil. After ten minutes remove your feet from water and make them dry.
- Apply any cream or oil to your hands before beginning with the actual foot massage, as it will increase your comfort level when you will ouch your feet with your hands.
- Remember you have to start your foot massage from top of foot and slowly come down towards the ankle. Stroke the foot from toe to ankle and them continue stroking sole of the foot. Be gentle initially and then slowly increase the pressure.
- On the sole of your foot, give massage in circular motion with the help of your thumb and fingers. The pressure of doing the massage should be more on the heel part of the foot.
- Hole your foot with one hand and rotate it with the help of your other hand. Do this first at the ankle for five times in clockwise and five times in anti-clockwise directions and then at the ball of the foot for five times in both the directions. Try to keep the pressure gentle and constant at both the times.
- Massage each toe individually beginning from the big toe. Massage you bid toe from top to its bottom end with gentle pressure and roll it between your thumb and other fingers. Pull the toe fingers slowly once you are done with massaging them. Do this step for all the five toe fingers.
- Slide your index finger between each toe five times. Then again move your thumb and fingers over the sole of your foot in circular motions. The pressure should not be more or less.
- Remove the cream or oil form your hands by wiping it with towel. Wear socks and then put slippers. This will hold the moisture in your foot.
- Repeat the above same steps for the other foot massage also. This is the easiest method of foot massage and within one or two times only you will become an expert massager.
