Amblyopia is also commonly called as lazy eye. In this condition the vision gets reduced and glasses or contact lenses will not correct it. This condition is caused when the brain stops fully recognizing the images seen by the eyes. In general cases it only affects on eye but in some rare cases both the eyes may have vision problems. In the adults the eye examination with the help of cycloplegic drops can detect this condition. As there are no major symptoms of this condition, many people and kids who suffer from this condition remain clueless about it.
Treatment of Amblyopia -
Patching, vision therapy and drops are involved in most of the treatment procedures for treating Amblyopia. This condition can be treated only till the age of 17. After the age of 17, doctors will have to take extra efforts to give you complete cure form this condition. The eyesight can be improved with the help of vision therapy at any age. But still it is better to get detected early if you have this eye condition. Hence make sure that your infant's and nursery school going kids get checked with the visual activity test. Many schools and eye doctors make use of this test to detect the lazy eye condition. In any case don’t fall prey to any advertisements assuring you about cure form lazy eye, as these products are not tested. There is still research going on about this eye condition.
