This happens when the light form the object doesn't get refracted directly on the retina of the eyes but goes behind the retina. This makes the person have problems of vision when he or she has to see things that are close to eyes. These people can see the far away objects more clearly. This also causes blurred vision in the person suffering from astigmatism. The eye doctor will come to know about astigmatism in you, when you will go for any eye check up. With the help of corneal topography and refraction tests the optometrist will come to know whether you are suffering from astigmatism or not.
Astigmatism problem can be easily corrected with the help of proper eyeglasses. If you are willing to have a permanent solution then you can also consider the option of surgery. In the surgical process doctor will make a small incision in the front side of the eye.
