Outer part of the eyelid, where the eyelashes grow is affected by Blepharitis condition, in which the outer part of the eyelid gets inflammation. This can happen due to the infection of the oil glands in the eyelid or due to some obstruction to the oil glands. The common symptoms of Blepharitis are watering eyes, red eyes, burning eyes, swollen eyes, crusting of the eyelashes, loss of eyelashes and itching of eyelids. Along with the obstruction to the oil glands, seborrheic dermatitis and bacterial infections are believed to be major causes of Blepharitis.
The regular eye treatments will have no effect over Blephatritis, as it is a chronic condition of eyes. But in Ayurvedic treatment there is cure for this condition and Ayurvedic procedures will make sure that this condition will never trouble you again once you take the treatment. There are various medicines in Ayurveda's that are very effective in treating the Blephatritis. Some of these medicines are supposed to be consumed orally while some are supposed to be applied over the affected eyelid. Many adults get this skin condition and if neglected for a long period of time it can cause styes, inflammation of the cornea, irritation of the cornea and conjunctiva.
Many people suffering from Blepharitis have no visible symptoms of this condition and hence remain unaware about it for long time. This condition affects both the eyelids at one time and mostly the corner of the eyelid is the most affected region. This is not a serious problem but it is very uncomfortable and irritating. Even if you get cure from it with the help of some eye treatment, it can occur again. This is very stubborn kind of condition and can easily resist the treatment. Due to loss of eyelashes, this condition can make you look unattractive but besides that there is no risk to your eyes or vision due to Blepharitis.

- Dryness of the eyes
- Inflammation of the eyelids
- Sore eyelids
- Greasy eyelids
- Blurred vision
- Burning sensations
- Prickly feeling in your eyes
- Increased light sensitivity
- Swollen eyelids
- Red eyes
- Loss of eyelashes
- Itching of the eyelids
Treatment of Blepharitis -
- Applying warm and wet compresses over the affected eyelid will give relief from the inflammation of the eyelids.
- Wash your eyes many times throughout the day to keep them moist.
- Make sure that your hands are clean whenever you touch your eyes.
- Avoid rubbing the eyes and instruct your children to do so if they have got this condition.
- Apply some antibiotic ointment after consulting your eye doctor.
- Put few drops of baby shampoo in one cup of water. Put a cotton swab in this solution and clean the deposits from the corner of your eyelids and eyelashes. Do this for the other eye also but make sure to use a new cotton swab for cleaning it.
