Iritis is a kind of eye irritation and it is not wrong to say that it is like arthritis in the eyes. Your doctor will also give you steroid eye drops so as to give you relief from the inflammation. These eye drops will also stop further damage of iris. In case the eye pain is not going with the eye drops then the doctor will also prescribe oral steroids for you.
As mentioned above prevention is much more effective than the treatment for iritis. Hence if you or anyone of your family member has rheumatoid arthritis then it is better to take precautionary measures to ensure that you will not get iritis. To reduce the inflammation of the body Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids are very effective. Hence you should include all those food groups in your diet that are good source of these fatty acids. Salmon and tuna fish, walnuts and flax seeds are rich source of these fatty acids. Cook your food in olive oil, as it is very nutritious. Along with these things make sure that your diet includes vegetables and fruits.
To reduce the risk of iritis, avoid processed snack foods, processed meat, white carbohydrates, and food items that are high in sugar contains. It is better to ask your doctor about what your diet should include and what it should not include. To have healthy eyes and correct vision make sure that your food gives you enough of vitamin A, C and E along with zinc and selenium.
