Gum diseases are very common and can happen to almost everyone at some or other point of their life. These gum diseases can reappear if you will not take proper gum care. There are several problems associated with gum diseases and hence you should take extra efforts to keep your gums clean along with cleaning your teeth. The first symptoms of any gum disease are red gums, swollen gums and paining gums. The normal color of gums is pink but any of the gum disease affects the gums then the red gums become visible at the affected gums. The other symptoms will appear slowly and that is the reason why so many people get into greater troubles, as they neglect the red gums.
Many people think that gum diseases can only happen to people who are in there 50's and above. But that is not true, as the gum diseases can occur to people of any age and gender. Due to the red gums the bone that supports the teeth can seriously get damaged and you may have tooth loss due to this condition. Hence next time you get red gums then instead of neglecting the condition consult your dentist and get properly treated for you gum disease. If you will visit the dentist in the early stage of the gum disease then the condition will also get cured fast without damaging your gums and teeth further.
The early stage of gum disease is known as gingivitis and slowly as it develops it is called as periodontitis. You can fight with the early symptoms of the gum disease with the help of general care of your teeth and gums like brushing your teeth properly with a fluoride based toothpaste. Along with brushing you teeth, you should floss your teeth at least once in a week. If you will maintain good oral hygiene then you will reduce your chances of getting gum diseases by several percentages. Make sure that you do gargle after every meal and remove the food particles thoroughly from your teeth and gums. You should also make sue that you will not eat or drink anything that is either too hot or too cold.
In causing gingivitis the plaque plays a major role. Plaque is nothing but a sticky substance that develops on the teeth and slowly turns into tartar. The tartar can easily damage the gums. This plaque is nothing but several bacteria growing together on the teeth and gums. If you will not remove the tartar from your teeth by going for regular dental clean up routines then you will have to face several gum diseases and you will have forever red gums. Hence along with brushing your teeth twice and flossing you teeth once in a week, you should also go for regular dental checkups at least two to three times in a year. As you will grow in age you will have to face several dental problems and the least you can do is to maintain a good oral hygiene so that most of the gum diseases don’t even show up in you.
