Blisters

As you know skin is very delicate and hence whenever your skin will have friction with anything hard it will get blisters. Such blisters are more common in feet and hands and sometimes they can be really painful. It is in your hands to avoid blisters. There are several types of blisters and you can get any type of blisters but you can get cure from them very easily. Most of the blisters get vanished within a week but if they don’t seem to go then you should consult your doctor. In many cases blisters are caused due to some kind of illness and not due to friction. Such blisters need proper medical treatment.

The blisters that are caused due to friction can be easily avoided by wearing proper fitting shoes. Tight shoes can easily hurt the delicate skin and thus result in causing blisters. Mostly such blisters will arise on the back of your feet and also on the side of your feet. If you have to wear new shoes then you must also put thick socks so that your feet will be saved from the friction. You should also apply some cream on the back side of your feet so as to avoid getting blisters.

The main reasons behind getting blisters are friction and burns. If the blister is not painful then you should wait for it to heal on its own. Don’t remove the skin cover over the blisters, as it protects the skin from bacterial infection and other kinds of infections. You can put a bandage over the blister to protect it from such kinds of infections. If the blister is painful then you can break it but otherwise there is no need to do so. People who are suffering from diabetes should consult their doctor as early as they can and should not try any kind of medication on their own.

How to take care of blisters-

  1. Wash the blisters with soap and warm water and pat them dry gently.
  2. Rub some alcohol over the blister and take a sharp needle and rub it also with alcohol.
  3. Use this needle to puncture the painful blister. You should insert the needle at the edges of the blisters. This will remove the fluid out of the blister. There is no need to remove the overlying skin from the blister.
  4. After applying an antibiotic ointment cover the blister with bandage. Change the bandage daily and once the blisters are cured remove the dead skin gently with scissors sterilized in alcohol solution.
  5. In case you notice any pus, redness and have lots of pain in the blisters then call your doctor, as these are signs of infection.

Whenever you purchase new shoes make sure of the following things to avoid getting blisters.

  • Your shoe shopping should be scheduled for the day time, as feet swell in daytime.
  • The shoes should be neither too tight nor too loose.
  • Try both the shoes and walk for some time after wearing both the shoes.
  • After wearing your shoes, you should be able to wiggle your toes.
