Genital herpes are caused by a virus called as Herpes Simplex Virus that is HSV. This virus can spread from affected person to a healthy person very easily through skin or through anal, oral and vaginal sex.
What are the causes of Genital Herpes?
If the HSV is present in the veneer of the skin then it can easily get transmitted from one person to another. The moist parts of skin like genitals, mouth and the anus are good places for this virus to live and multiply. Even if the person with good health has any kind of skin contact or eye contact with the person affected with HSV, he or she can get affected with HSV too.
But if the HSV virus is not on skin then it cannot survive. That’s the reason why HSV will never get spread through the cutlery, towels or cups of the affected person. Once your doctor confirms that HSV virus is present in you, there are high chances of you getting genital herpes, as this virus gets multiplied very fast in desirable conditions. The HSV virus can stay inactive for a long time and then again cause genital herpes once it gets a chance to multiply.
The real causes behind the recurrence of genital herpes are not known but during intercourse the abrasion of genital area could be a possible cause behind it. What are the symptoms of Genital Herpes?
In the initial stage there will no symptoms of genital herpes. Many people suffering from the HSV virus lead a normal life without showing any symptoms of any kind of skin problems. People suffering from the HSV virus can live good life without any trace of symptoms for years. Some people get mild infection within a week of them getting infected by HSV. This is called as primary infection and need immediate treatment so as to avoid the full outbreak of the HSV.
The symptoms of primary genital herpes are fever, red blisters with lots of pain, ulcers on the buttocks, vaginal discharge in women, ulcers on the rectum, thighs and the external part of the genitals, burning sensations while passing urine, blisters on the cervix and tiredness feeling. These symptoms will last for up to 20 days but you will need to treat them without wasting time. In case of recurrent genital herpes ulcers and blisters will get formed on the cervix, the area near the genitals will have a burning feeling and painful red blisters are some of the symptoms.
What treatments are available for treating Genital Herpes?
The treatment will be decided after checking the nature of the condition that you are suffering form. In short the treatment for primary infection and recurring infection is different. The doctor will prescribe some anti viral tablets to you. In case of recurring infection, the doctor will give you mild dose of these anti viral tablets.
