Pityriasis means scaly and rosacea means pink, so in short pityriasis rosacea means scaly pink rashes that can appear on the skin. These skin rashes are more common problem in young people. These rashes will vanish without any treatment within few months. There is no possible cure that can cure it fast. You can take some medicine to bring the symptoms of this condition under control. Calamine lotion or other mild lubricants are effective in reducing the itching and the inflammation of the skin. While applying any kind of ointment or creams, you should apply it gently without rubbing the rashes. The cream and the ointment should be applied only on the affected area. If you will rub the area while applying the cream then there are chances of spreading of the rashes to other part of the body.

Pityriasis Rosacea Prevention -

Avoid going out in sun without any kind of protection. Wear sunglasses, hats and apply sunscreen lotions before stepping out of the house in heat. You can even carry an umbrella to protect yourself from the harsh sunrays. Keep your skin moisturized by applying moisturizing lotion. Use gentle soaps that are made for your skin type. If you are getting skin itching and inflammation then control your urge to scratch the rashes. Try to put some cold water on your rashes to stop the urge of scratching. Don’t have bath with too much hot water, as this will damage your skin.
You should wear comfortable clothes like cotton of silk. Wool and acrylic fabrics should be avoided as far as possible. You can have oatmeal bath, if you are suffering from skin rashes. This will give you soothing feeling. You can avoid getting the pityriasis rosacia rashes if you will take care of the above mentioned prevention measures.
