The diversity in clinical research has made it simple now, as it has become very easy to make the drugs in such a way that they will work effectively no matter who is going to eat them. The drugs will be made in such ways that it will work fine for male as well as female. In 1990, the NIH's office on women health has taken up the agenda to represent more women participation in the NIH- funded clinical trials.
The diversity in clinical research has reached to such heights that today women are recruited for clinical trials of drugs and medications. The women who are in childbearing age are also taking part in such clinical trials. But as there are several risks involved in untested medications, the women are made aware about them before they get recruited for the job. Researchers have several counseling sessions with the interested women and make them aware about the potential risks involved in the trial of the drugs.
Many times the testing of the drug is done after making the woman go through checkups to know their pregnancy status. Those women whose pregnancy tests are negative considered eligible for testing of the drugs. The several birth control pills and methods has to be tried well before they come in the market and hence you can make out the several possible risks involved in taking the job of testing the drugs in clinical trials.
