| A woman passes through various stages in her life. She experiences major change when she attains puberty and when she passes through the menopause. None of the phase is easy for her. To add to this, is the monthly cycle, which comes with some other set of discomforts. In each phase a lot of hormonal changes take place in her body and the turmoil is not just physical but also mental. At the time of puberty, when physical changes take place in her body-the breasts starts growing, there is hair growth in the private parts of her body, the pain during her menstrual cycle, she needs guidance about the hygiene during the monthly cycle. If proper care is not taken during this time, it may lead to infection .So personal hygiene is very important at this time.
The difficult time is that of menopause. After the age of 45 years, a woman passes through pre menstrual syndrome or the PMC. At this stage, there is hormonal imbalance leading to mood swings and depression combined with heavy bleeding and irregular monthly cycle. She may have palpitation or heartburn. She may have sleepless night, loss of appetite, hot flush, etc. Some may feel that she has loss of memory. At this juncture, utmost care should be taking about woman’s health.
During menopause, she experiences physical pain and also mental stress. Since medication can cure most of the problems, there is no need to worry. Also menopause should be taken as a phase of life. Every woman has to pass through that stage and should accept it gracefully. Family member s should also understand that this is a tough phase for her and must support her. Regular check ups and follow up should be done.
A woman should take care about her diet. It is generally observed that a woman will take care of the needs of the family members, their diet etc .But when it comes to herself, she tends to be negligent. In order to maintain the health of the family, it is desirable that the woman of the family is healthy. She should take a balanced diet, calcium rich food because, after menopause, the body is drained of calcium, resulting in brittle bones.
Regular exercise also helps to keep the body fit. During menopause, there are chances of weight gain. Exercise will keep the weight gain in check. However, do not overdo the exercises.
Do something that keeps you happy. Listen to soft music, read a book, give time for some hobby of your choice. This will help in relieving the stress. Spend some time with yourself, or go for some beauty treatment. A women’s health is after all the health of the entire family.
