The gentle touch of a spray mist brings energy back to the complexion any time of day. Mists are magnificent in very dry climates, in windy weather, after work out, or during times of air travel when the skin is chiefly susceptible to dehydration. Use them to stabilize make-up, re-activate moisturizer, or just as an uplifting refresher anytime. Apply a mist before and after moisturizing to assist absorption.
Mists may be made of pure spring water, an herbal tea, or water enhanced with minerals. One of the specialties in Ayurveda, the age old herbal science is using metals, minerals, and gems for healing. The qualities of precious metals can be conveyed to water by boiling the metal with water in a glass or enamel pan. Use 1 ounce of metal per 20 fluid ounces of water, simmering until half of the water is gone. (If you do not have as much as an ounce of a metal, use a heavy ring and place it in 1 pint of water.) This water can then be used as a spray mist.
- For NORMAL or DRY skin, use gold water.
- For OILY skin, use silver water.
- For MATURE skin, use copper or gold water.
- For BLEMISHED or CONGESTED skin, use copper water.
A mist using gem water can also be made. The character of gems are conveyed to water by allowing a glass of spring water (with the gem stone in it) to sit in strong sunlight for thirty days. Check the section regarding gem therapy for the helpful qualities of particular gems.
