The most enjoyable and effective way to begin a session of beauty massage is to work briefly on the spine. Using tapping, rubbing, firm pressure, and berbal compress, the spine can be gently urged to relax and resume its natural shape. Correct alignment and power of the spine gives the whole body gentle grace, poise, and certain command. A severely physical spinal massage strengthens the nervous system and promotes the flow of cerebral-spinal fluid. This helps with emotional balance. On a more subtle level it allows the life giving energies of the body to flow freely which keeps the body vital, youthful, and glamorous longer than would normally be predictable.
For the massage, the handset needs to be lying on their front with their back bare from the sacrum up to the lying on their front with their back bare from the sacrum up to the top of the neck. Always make your massage strokes so that they start from the base and work up to the top of the spine.
Start by tapping in a bouncy action using a “hacking” action whereby the hands are stretched out and the fingers loosely spaced. This awakens the spinal energies and improves circulation to the spinal area.
Nest take warm oil and vigorously rub it into either side of the sacrum, then up along both sides of the vertebral column. Usually sesame oil is good because it penetrates well, lubricating the connective tissues of the spine. If there is stiffness or misalignment, use Mahanarayan or mustard oil, or equal parts of ginger juice and sesame oil. Rub vigorously to get the oil absorbed. Then using both thumbs, apply pressure evenly, starting at the tip of the sacral area, then on both sides of the sacrum and up the spine. Pressure should be firm, but not uncomfortable. If pressure is too strong you will see the body physically brace in anticipation of the next pressure point. Finally, apply a hot ginger compress over the sacral area. Let the heat penetrate and when the compress is cool, remove, dip in the hot tea, and reapply. Do this for a total of three times until the skin is noticeably pink. Dry the sacral area and wipe off the excess oil from the spine with the hot (ginger saturated) cloth.
Have the recipient turn over, then fall a hot pad under their sacral area to keep it temperate. Do not use an electric heating pad as it disturbs the subtle energies of the body. A hot water bottle or chemical hot/cold pack is best (both are available at most pharmacies). If you are not able to rake the time or do not have a suitable set-up to follow the entire spinal procedure as explained here, at least place the hot pad on the sacrum. It helps the neck and shoulder muscles release and relax tremendously. If the recipient is cold or nervous, use a hot pad just below the navel on the lower stomach. This can also help with headache caused by deep abdominal tension.
