Pregnancy gingivitis is very common problem faced by more than 50% of the pregnant women all over the world. The body retains more water in the kidneys so as to support and nourish the placenta. If you will neglect your oral health, then there are high chances of you develop tumor in your gums, due to the un-cleaned bacteria that is developing in your teeth and gums. There will be no early symptoms lie pain or irritation in the gums but slowly this tumor will grow in size and then you will experience greater levels of discomfort. With good oral hygiene you can easily take care of your teeth and gums and kill the bacterial growth. Once you deliver you child you are out of the risk of getting pregnancy gingivitis. To Avoid pregnancy gingivitis -
- Keep yourself well hydrated – drink plenty of water and fruit juices without adding extra sugar in it.
- Sugarless chewing gum is also effective in keeping the bacteria growth under control. The chewing gum will increase the salvia inside the mouth and thus reduce the acidity and kill the bacteria. Chewing gum will also give comfort from the nauseous feeling during pregnancy.
- Two times a day brushing and once flossing should be your routine for dental care and it should change during pregnancy too. No mater how much tired you are feeling, clean your teeth and gums well for preventing dental complications to occur during pregnancy.
