There are three main stages of pregnancy and each one stage of these stages lasts for about 13 weeks. All women must know about these stages and the changes that occur in each stage of the pregnancy. This will help them understand the various changes that undergo in their bodies during pregnancy. This will help them to monitor their changes in each week and they can come to know in case anything is not going on, as it should in every stage of the pregnancy. These pregnancy stages are known as trimesters.
First Trimester – From the day of conception to 12th week
This is the first stage of pregnancy and this is the time you will need to take extra precaution, as there are more chances of miscarriage during the first trimester. It is in the first trimester only that the baby starts growing inside the womb and most of the vital body organs of the baby start developing in the first trimester. If you miss your periods and get early pregnancy symptoms or get confirmations of your pregnancy though the home pregnancy kit, then go for check up as early as possible. This way you will be more assured about your pregnancy will know the exact week of your pregnancy.
In the first trimester you should eat and drink with care so that you don’t cause any harm in the initial days of the pregnancy. Besides this it will provide your body all the vital nutrition that are needed for the proper growth of your child. You will be asked to reduce your daily intake of caffeine and alcohol. Smoking is also bad for you throughout your pregnancy. Otherwise these things will create various complications during pregnancy. Among all the three pregnancy stages, the pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness and nausea will be more.
Second Trimester – 13th week to 28th week
Among all the three pregnancy stages, second stage is supposed to be more relaxing. In this trimester the pregnancy symptoms will be not present and hence you will feel relaxed and at peace. Towards the end of this trimester you will get first faint baby movements too. The baby will be about three to four inches long and almost all his or her facial features will be in place. The eyebrows and hair will also start growing and the urinary tract will start functioning. The lungs of the baby will also start to exhale the amniotic fluid.
Third Trimester – 29th week to 40th week
This is the last stage of your pregnancy. Now you are very near to hold your baby in your arms. You must have started various plans about what you will do once your baby comes in this world, how you will welcome the baby, and how you will keep the baby entertained. The beginning of the pregnancy stage your baby will be a foot long and have weight about 2 to 3 pounds. The baby can blink its eyes also. The baby will gain weight rapidly. During the 36th week your uterus will also expand, so much so that the uterus almost touches the rib cage. After you complete 37th week of the pregnancy then any time you baby can come in this world.
