Pregnancy Week 19
In pregnancy week 19, your baby will be about 6 inches long and will be of 7 ounces in weight. Remember the size of your baby will be 15 times more than this at the actual time of delivery. The growth of the baby will happen at rocket speed from this week onwards. In this week your baby will start producing its first bowel movement and it is termed as meconium in medical terms. When you will deliver you child, for first two to three days the baby will start passing meconium, which is greenish black in color. Meconium can sometimes be dangerous too but overall it is normal. As you know your baby ingest and excrete amniotic fluid everyday and thus meconium mainly consists of this amniotic fluid. Your baby will excrete it post delivery but there are chances that you baby will [ass this meconium when you are still pregnant. This may cause complications in pregnancy and affect your baby's lungs.
When you deliver the baby, then only the doctors can see whether the baby has passed meconium or not. If the water inside your tummy is clear then doctors will be rest assured that baby has no risks and it will pass meconium in coming two to three days. But in case the amniotic fluid inside is yellow or green in color, then there are high chances of your baby getting various complications. The doctor will use suction pump to remove the meconium from the baby's airway. In pregnancy week 19, your baby will also start producing vernix, which is white sticky substance that covers your baby's skin. This vernix is responsible for keeping the baby's skin so soft and supple even after baby is in water for nine months.
In pregnancy week 19, your baby's brains will also produce various pockets that will specialize in smell, taste, vision, touch and hearing. In case your baby will be a girl child, she might have produced about 6 million eggs in her ovaries. This number will reduce to 4 million eggs by the time you deliver. Your uterus will be just below your belly button. You will get aches in the lower abdomen due to its increased size. You will suffer from round ligament pain too. In pregnancy week 19, you will find it difficult to balance, as your center of gravity is off. You will find it hard to climb up or down from the hill. You will feel lightheaded more than often. You will find it difficult to change your position and find difficulty in getting up.
When you change position that is you stand after sitting for some while, the blood pressure decreases and this causes discomfort. The uterus also puts extra pressure on vena cava and aorta and this causes hypotension and the body gets slow speed blood flow. Hence you feel dizzy during pregnancy often. But this is a very common side effect of pregnancy. These kinds of discomfort will last for only few minutes and again you will be okay in some time, when the blood flow to your body become like before.
