 Pregnancy week 2 is the time when most of the pregnant women came to know that they are pregnant. In this week the symptoms of pregnancy become more prominent. Many women came to know about their pregnancy in this week and find it really strange that they have already completed pregnancy week 1. Pregnancy is calculated according to the gestational age and hence it need not be similar to the calendar months. Pregnancy week 2 is counted from the first day of the last menstrual period of yours. After ovulation and the conception this week is just the beginning for your baby.
As known to you, your ovary releases an egg and when a sperm enters the egg or penetrates the egg and sperm and ovum both gets enclosed in one membrane. This also prevents other sperms from entering the ovum. These two original cells then starts dividing rapidly and after that its journey starts from the fallopian tube to the uterus, where it gets implanted. The implantation of this fertilized egg in the lines of uterus can cause implantation bleeding too. In this kind of bleeding the blood flow is less and blood is pinkish brown in appearance.
In pregnancy week 2 there are several changes inside and outside you too. Every month your ovary releases one ovum and many women can actually feel the ovulations occurring. This is the time when your body produces large amount of estrogen too. This estrogen pushes the egg towards the uterus. If the ovum doesn’t get fertilized then you get your menstrual periods or else you become pregnant. During intercourse about 200 to 500 million sperms enters your vagina. Sperms can stay active in your uterus and fallopian tube for about two to three days. Many women don’t get any signs of pregnancy till pregnancy week 2 but some get signs of pregnancy like tender breast and feeling of bloating.
In many women, the result of home pregnancy test will not come positive in pregnancy week 2, as the hCG levels will take about eight to ten more days. But for some women the pregnancy can be determined in the second week itself. That means the results are different for different women. The fertilized egg is known as balstocyst and it starts separating in two parts – on called as yolk sac, which has the amniotic fluid and the other called as the embryo. The amniotic fluid protects the embryo as well as provides nourishment for it.
Also in the pregnancy week 2, the umbilical cord starts becoming visible and functions partly but it still will take many weeks to start functioning properly. As far as your physical health is considered, you will feel very tired. Feeling tired is an indication that your body is working extra hard to prepare for carrying the baby for nine months. You will also feel breathless more than often. Your breasts will appear tender and swollen. The estrogen and progesterone hormones will be secreted in your body in more amounts. This will increase the hCG levels inside your body. Hence if you will take a home pregnancy test, you might get positive pregnancy results.
