Pregnancy Week 5
There is not much difference in the situation in pregnancy week 5 compared with the pregnancy week 4. Your baby will be about 1 mm long but your baby is growing in many other ways, as most of the vital organs will start developing from this week onwards. In the fifth week of pregnancy the central nervous system, muscles, heart and the bones will start forming. But the formation and growth of these organs will be at a different speed in each individual creature. There are no fixed criteria like your baby should have these organs in this week, etc.
In the pregnancy week 5, your baby's heart will start getting divided in to separate chambers and the pumping of the blood will also start. The mesoderm layer, which is the middle layer of the cell, will get converted into baby's heart. The umbilical cord and the placenta will also develop rapidly. From the ectoderm layer of the cells, which is the outer layer, the skin, hair, nails and sweat glands will get formed. The endoderm layer f the cell will get converted into lungs, pancreas, intestine and thyroid.
As far as you are considered, your belly won't be that big in pregnancy week 5. In fact no one will know about your pregnancy until you tell him or her about it. But for many women little tummy starts showing from the fifth week onwards. Some women ignore this as just bloating of the tummy when actually they are pregnant. There are some early pregnancy complications that may arise in the fifth week of pregnancy. One such complication is called as Ectopic pregnancy. In this kind of the pregnancy the implantation of the fertilized egg occurs inside the fallopian tube instead of uterus. But the rate for such complications is very small. Among 100 pregnancies only 1 lady gets this kind of pregnancy.
If you experience vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain or sever nausea then you should contact your doctor soon, as these are the signs of Ectopic pregnancy. Your doctor will give you proper advice after doing an ultrasound, which will clearly show the implantation of the egg in the fallopian tube. With the help of surgery your doctor will try to correct the situation. In many cases there are other complications that can occur in the fifth week of pregnancy related with the growth of the embryo. Miscarriage is also quite common complication that can arise in the pregnancy week 5.
During the pregnancy week 5, you will feel more nauseous and will get most of the early pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness, frequent urination, sore breasts, vomiting, and tired feeling. The vomiting and morning sickness will remain till the end of the first trimester but for some these symptoms will remain till the end of their pregnancy. Hence there is no fixed rule here too. Even though the name is morning sickness, you may feel sick throughout the day. The nauseous feeling will also remain at any time of the day. But you are advised not to skip food, as the morning sickness will be more on an empty stomach.
