Discover simple home remedies to reduce arthritis pain
Arthritis is a chronic ailment that is described by swelling and pain in the joints. Its treatment usually includes anti-inflammatory medicines like steroids and NSAIDs. However, these drugs are harmful for overall health of an individual, particularly when taken for a longer period of time. These drugs can even cause gastrointestinal damage and heart problems in few cases. So, why not to try natural remedies to get relief from pain. Steam bath and massage – A tender, warm massage is effective in relieving arthritic pain temporarily. One can use thyme oil, sage or olive oil for massaging. Steam bath is also a great idea to comfort from pain, but avoid cold spray or cold bath.
Vinegar – Rub some warm vinegar on the aching joints before going to bed at night, it helps in reducing joint pain up to some extent. Do not forget to mop the area afterwards so that it doesn’t give smell of vinegar when you go to bed.
Dandelion – The roots of dandelion plant has mild laxative features and therefore can help in relieving arthritis.
Fish oil – Fish oil is rich in omega 3 fatty acids, and these acids have outstanding anti-inflammatory properties. So, it helps the human body to excite the manufacturing process of anti-inflammatory eicosanoids, which in turn helps in defying inflammation.
Nettle – Nettle acts as a blood cleanser. As it is rich in mineral content, it also helps in repairing and rekindling of tissues. Sometimes, nettle can be combined with meadowsweet to relieve from excess pain.
Black gingerly seeds - Soak few black gingerly seeds in water and keep it for whole night. In the morning, consume these seeds along with water.
Camphor and mustard oil – Mix together 100 gm of mustard oil and 5 gm of camphor. Put it into a glass bottle, close the lid and keep it in the sunlight until the camphor gets dissolved in the oil. Massage on the affected body parts every day.
Raw potato – Chop a small potato without peeling the skin. Soak these chopped pieces in cold water. In the morning, drink this water when your stomach is totally empty.
Garlic & ginger – Garlic and ginger are known to have anti-inflammatory properties and have shown to ease joint pain in some studies. One can consume them orally or it can also be applied directly on the affected area.
Heat pack – When one applies heat on the paining joints, it gives an immediate relief. It not only eases stiffness in the joints and loosens up the muscles, but also helps in improving cell function and blood circulation.
These home remedies are safe to use. Moreover, they do not cost much as other pain medications. If pain persists even after trying these remedies for several days, then one needs to consult an experienced doctor who is specialized in joint treatments.
