Home treatment for constipation - Cure the problem in a natural way!
Constipation is the trouble associated with digestive system inside the body. It is referred to as having bowel movements less than 3 times in a week. Few people suffering from this problem experience pain, bloating and straining during bowel movements. Most of the times, the problem is short-term and not very serious. Understanding the causes, preventive and treating steps will help an individual find relief. Constipation requires an instant evaluation if it accompanies serious symptoms like abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, nausea, vomiting, cramps, and instinctive weight loss.
Constipation is best cured by following simple remedies at home:
Honey tea – Take 1 cup of hot water and add to it 1 tbsp honey and 3 gm green tea leaves. Drink this tea when warm after meals. It humidifies the intestines and liberates the stool. It is most suited to elderly people and mothers after giving birth to a child.
Sesame oil and honey drink – Mix 1 tbsp honey and little amount of sesame oil in 1 cup lukewarm water. Stir it properly. Drink this mixture every morning. It helps in humidifying the intestines and liberating the stool.
Sweet drink of mulberry – Boil 2 bowls of water. Add to it 60 gm dark mulberries (ripe). Continue to boil until the mixture reduces to half. Strain the water and add sugar according to taste. Drink it several times in a day. It is suitable for children as well as adults.
Molasses drink – mix 2 tbsp molasses in 1 glass of hot water and blend it well. Drink it two times in a day. The remedy is suitable for both children and adults; however keep the quantity of molasses to 1 tbsp if it is to be given to children.
Fig & banana smoothie – It is a highly healthful and effectual remedy for constipation. Put 3 to 4 dates or figs, 1 banana, 1 spoon honey & 1 cup water in a blender. Mix all the ingredients and drink it once in a day. It is suited to both adults and kids.
Senna leaves tea – Put 2 gm of Senna leaves in a cup and pour some hot water in it. Keep it for few minutes and then drink it. It is a powerful remedy to remove constipation, and also removes associated signs of heat such as red face, bad breath, and dark yellow urine.
Spinach soup – Make soup using water and spinach and add a pinch of salt to it. It is a gentle but effective remedy that stimulates the bowel movement. One can also put a carrot in spinach soup to get better results. Suitable for grown-up people and children.
In addition to employing these home remedies, one should identify the causes of constipation. Diet is the most common cause of constipation in people, i.e. consuming nutritionally dead foodstuffs like cakes, white bread, pastries, cookies, over cooked products, candy etc.
Emotional stress can be another cause for the problem. Acupressure and breathing exercises are effective to deal with anxiety, stress and worries.
