Home remedies to combat food poisoning
Food poisoning is a type of disease which is caused by harmful bacteria that contaminate the food items. So the food must be stored in hygienic conditions. Milk products, meat and sea food items such as fish get easily infected, so must be kept covered. The symptoms of food poisoning are usually vomiting, tiredness, fever, diarrhea and gastric distress. There are many home remedies to fight against food poisoning. Most of the people are well-known about various home remedies but choosing best remedies can make a huge difference to cure severe ailments.
Healthy food stuff:-
Bananas - bananas contain enough potassium and are easy to digest. Lack of potassium occurs due to vomiting that leads to weakness in the body. So, one should eat bananas.
Sugar - sugar helps to retain fluid in the body. When one is suffering from diarrhea, food poisoning etc., then body gets dehydrated. So it needs to be hydrated. For this, sugar is very beneficial.
Raw garlic - garlic is like a detoxifier and is efficient to kill the harmful bacteria.
Ginger - ginger paste with buttermilk is good to treat food poisoning problems. Also a mixture of pepper powder, lemon extracts and ginger is very effective.
Some curd when mixed with two spoons of juice of basil leaf, pinch of pepper and black salt, is excellent for those having abdominal pain due to vomiting. This mixture should be taken 3 to 4 times per day.
Chicken soup - these soups are good for health to overcome the weakness problems.
ORS solution - this can be made by mixing a little bit salt with one teaspoon of sugar in water. This solution is very effective to avoid dehydration.
Herbal tea - it can be made from mint, blackberry, chamomile and raspberry and is very useful in the treatment of food poisoning.
Lemon juice – squeeze lemon in a glass of water and add some sugar. This lemon juice is essential to maintain the water level in the body. Mixture of cider vinegar in warm water is useful to improve digestion.
Other fluids - one should drink more and more fluids to get hydrated like boiled water, rice water, coconut water, tea or ginger tea. These are good for the patients suffering from such poisoning. Alcoholic drinks, milk can be dangerous for such patients.
Powder of fenugreek and cumin seeds in a glass of water gives great relief from various health problems caused by food poisoning.
After feeling well, one should consume simple food like cereals, bread, wheat and rice and avoid fried, spicy and heavy food items. Goldenseal root acts as an antibiotic to combat the causes of food poisoning. Various medicines and drugs are used to prevent the hazards of food poisoning but should be taken by consulting a doctor.
