How to ease nasal congestion with simple home remedies?
The germs enter the human body mostly through nose and throat. Mucus membrane has a series of blood vessels. When these blood vessels spread out, mucus membrane swells out and it eventually results in nasal congestion. Ear infection can also be a cause of blockage in nose. Whatever be the cause, this blockage can result in many dangerous situations sometimes. It can effect speech development, hearing and ears.
Nasal blockage can be cured efficiently by following some home remedies. These include:
Tomato and garlic soup – This soup is very helpful to relieve blockage in nose. For making such soup, take 3-4 tomatoes and boil them in a cup of water. Add to it one tsp of garlic paste, pepper and black pepper. Consume it once in a day.
Apple vinegar extract – Put 2 to 3 tbsp vinegar in a frying pan and heat it until all the vinegar is evaporated and one can inhale the smoke produced from this vinegar. Inhaling this smoke will relieve nose blockage up to a great extent.
Mixture of horseradish and honey – Take 1 or 2 tsp of horseradish (grated). Add one tsp of honey to it. Consume this mixture and take a deep breathe through your nose. It will really help in relieving nasal obstruction.
Grapefruit – Take some lukewarm water and add grape juice to it. This mixture is to be used as inhaler to treat nose blockage and sinus problems. Follow this remedy at night before sleeping.
Eucalyptus or tea tree oil – Mix few drops of oil in boiling water and breathe in the steam produced from this mixture.
Cardamom seeds – Place a tsp full of cardamom seeds on burning coal. Inhale the smoke produced from these seeds to relive from nasal congestion. This remedy is often suggested for small children.
Saline wash - Put ½ tsp non-iodized salt in 8 ounces of distilled water. This water should be at room temperature. Pour some of the mixture in hand and inhale it through passage of the nose. After inhaling this mixture, lean your head at the back for few minutes so that the mixture performs its work properly. Then blow nose so that excess of the mucus is removed. Refrigerate remaining liquid and use it every day.

Oregano oil - Mix together 2 garlic cloves, 2 tsp oregano oil and 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, a pinch of sea salt & 8 ounces of water. Keep this mixture in microwave oven for 2 to 3 minutes. After that, drink this mixture. It will help a lot in relieving from nasal congestion.The above remedies will prove to be very helpful in removing blockage in nose. In earlier times, basil tea was also used to treat this problem.
