Get healthy hair with healthy vitamins
Healthy hair is not just a gratification to consider, it is pleasure for the individual who has it. A sole follicle on the scalp produces about 0.30 millimeters of hair streak per day. The cycle of each follicle includes construction and shredding down the structure. After a small rest period, the follicles are again built from the raw materials. All the hair follicles go through the similar procedures as they grow longer. Many factors such as stress, exposure to sun, toxins present in environment, smoking, consumption of alcohol etc. can hinder this process of growing hair.
However, proper intake of certain vitamins in required amount will help an individual in getting beautiful and healthy hair.
Vitamin A – Vitamin A is widely recognized to improve hair luster and texture. It is responsible for sebum production in the scalp, which results in healthy oils in the hair. This vitamin can be taken in the form of supplements or can be found in many foods such as broccoli, spinach, cabbage, cheese, apricots and peaches. Since this vitamin also helps in improving skin texture and quality, it can be regarded as over-all beauty treatment.
B vitamins – Many of the B vitamins like B3, B5, B12 and B6 are important for the growth of healthy hair. Niacin (vitamin B3) is necessary for proper circulation in the scalp. B3 can be consumed through chicken, fish and turkey. B5 is very helpful in stopping grey hair and can be found in whole grains and egg yolks. B12 and B6 are found in eggs and grains and they can aid in preventing hair fall to a great extent.
Vitamin E – This vitamin is necessary for the general appearance of hair. It works wonders for hair growth, scalp and production of oil, and helps the hair to appear soft and silky. Supplements of vitamins are easily available in the market or it can also be consumed through many foods such as nuts, beans, soybeans and green vegetables (especially kale, collard greens and spinach).
Vitamin H (or biotin) – This vitamin is known to prevent hair fall and gray hair. It can be consumed through various food sources such as liver, milk, grains, rice and whole grains.
Certain minerals, amino acids and vitamins are very critical to the metabolic pathways, which are involved in the keratin protein metabolism. Without the required nutrients, the process of hair growth will cease or slow down, leading to probable hair loss and degradation of the health of hair.
There is considerable research in this field to prove the effectiveness of the minerals, vitamins and amino acids to supply the required nutrients needed for healthy hair. Many multivitamins have also been developed that contain amino acids, vitamins and minerals needed for healthy hair in required quantity. One can consider taking these multivitamins. However, do not forget to look for the ingredients, quality level and overall value described on its package. Consult the doctor before going for such multivitamins to prevent future side effects.
